ADVERTISING SALES CONSULTANT

 

The Progress-Index, Petersburg, VA, has an immediate opening for a full time outside Advertising Sales Consultant.  The position involves servicing an established territory as well as developing new advertisers.

Candidates must be outgoing, well organized, and possess strong communication skills.  Knowledge of the Internet is essential.  This position will have a strong emphasis on the development of both our print and online products.  Sales and/or strong customer service experience preferred.

COPY EDITOR

 

The Virgin Islands Daily News needs a copy editor who is an expert at precision editing.  The person awarded this position will be a key player on our Copy Desk which edits news, features and sports stories for accuracy and consistency of facts, grammar, punctuation, spelling and style.

The copy editor we hire must be highly proficient at writing clear, accurate and engaging headlines without using puns and must be capable of laying out and paginating well-organized and visually compelling pages.  The job requires unwavering attention to detail and the ability to work to the highest standards of the profession while under intense deadline pressure.

Applicants must have experience as a copy editor for a print newspaper; experience limited to a magazine, website, blog or any publication other than a daily newspaper is not adequate.  The salary range is $32,000 and higher based on expertise, education and experience.

The Community Newspaper Group has an opening for a staff writer for Luzerne County’s premier arts & entertainment weekly publication – Diamond City.  The ideal candidate will be a versatile journalist with strong writing and editing skills and the ability to work with freelance writers so we may continue to produce the quality weekly publication that readers of Northeastern Pennsylvania have come to expect.  The candidate must possess the ability to work within a team environment since they will be working hand in hand with DC’s sister publication – Electric City, as well as each of our other weekly community newspapers.  Pagination (and/or) web development skills are a big plus but more importantly, this candidate should be prepared to become a very active and identifiable personality within the Luzerne County Arts & Entertainment Community.
